Charity begins at home

The IEBA continues to call for your help and relies on your support for the various fundraising events coming up during the year. So far the following events have been arranged –

  • April 10, 2016 – A day at the races in Leopardstown.
  • June 17, 2016 -The annual golf classic in Powerscourt Golf Club.
  • September 2 – A golf outing in Cork.
  • November 18, 2016 – The annual winter ball in the Intercontinental Hotel, Ballsbridge.

The main objective of the association is to provide short-term financial support to colleagues and their families in the electrical industry in the Republic of Ireland that have experienced difficulties with bereavement, illness, accident, redundancy etc.

To qualify for assistance an individual would need to have worked in the electrical industry and have a requirement for financial assistance. The overall administration of the IEBA is entrusted to an elected Board of Trustees, all of whom are unremunerated. A sub-committee (Appropriations Committee) is appointed to consider all applications for assistance, clearly establish the nature of distress and the short-term financial support the applicant needs to relieve this distress. The service is free, confidential and independent.
In 2015 a Munster branch of the IEBA was established and it’s hoped that, in 2016, more branches will be created. Over the last 15 years the IEBA has distributed almost €600,000 – money which hundreds of supporters from all sectors of the electrical industry have contributed. Through this generosity the charity has been able to help over 100 families.
