With the Hollywood Ball topping off its 2023 calendar of events, the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA) is gearing up for another successful year of fundraising.
The key fundraising initiative of the year for the charity, which helps people from the industry and their families in need of support, this year’s Ball was held in the Intercontinental Hotel Ballsbridge on November 17.
Themed around the golden age of filmmaking in the 1940s and 1950s, it included a four-course meal, prize draw and entertainment from the Bentley Boys Party Band.
A total of €59,785 has been distributed to beneficiaries in 2023 to date, with other fundraising events including the annual IEBA Race Day in Leopardstown on February 5.
Expert Electrical, Leopardstown Racecourse and Derrywood Agencies sponsored prizes, and Ireland’s Electrical Magazine the Prosecco reception, for the event.
And Schneider Electric match-funded donations from participants in its annual Customer Golf Outing at the K Club on August 17 to contribute a total of €2,000 to the charity.
The donations came from entry into a Beat the Pro contest on the third hole, with only eight out of 75 golfers triumphing over Gary Murphy.
The last AGM, meanwhile, saw one of the founding members of IEBA, ex-Siemens employee Jimmy Whan step down from the Board of Directors.
Founded in 2001, IEBA extends support to members of the electrical industry and their families experiencing difficulties with, for example, bereavement, depression, terminal illness, accidental death, special treatments or retraining.
Help is extended to anyone who is, or has been, engaged in the trade as well as widows, widowers and immediate dependents of that person with a need for financial assistance.
With your help, awareness and support, IEBA can do more to assist industry people and their families who are struggling.
