Aurora is named Manufacturer of the Year

“I’m immensely proud to tell you that the Aurora Group recently won ‘Manufacturer of the Year’, the top accolade in the internationally recognised 2015 Lux Awards.

The award was presented at the awards event following the LuxLive 2015 exhibition, held at London’s ExCel in November. The judges pointed to a company that demonstrated value-for-money products with quality that consistently exceeds expectations, calling it ‘a playbook in how you succeed in lighting’.

Earlier in 2015, Aurora won Best Marketing Campaign for its mSeries ‘Light Years Ahead’ campaign at Northern Ireland’s Electrical Awards 2015. Aurora is today a global manufacturer of energy-saving, smart LED lighting solutions. We are part of one of the largest privately-owned international LED lighting organisations. The Aurora Group has delivered over $1 billion of award-winning solutions to customers in over 70 countries throughout our 16-year history.

At the LuxLive presentation, Richard Sells, Aurora’s Group Managing Director, said, “It is such an honour to win this prestigious accolade, which recognises our achievements across all of a lighting manufacturer’s disciplines.

“Over the years, we’ve continued to achieve recognition for multiple products, projects, channels, innovation and marketing through numerous industry awards. In 2014, Aurora’s Growthpoint Properties project in South Africa was awarded International Lighting Project of the Year by Lux Review. In March 2015, Heathrow’s Terminal 2 Airport Lounge won the Lighting Design Award. Recently, we won Best Marketing Campaign at NI Electrical Awards.”

How have we done it? Aurora continually invests in world-class, in-house manufacturing capabilities and facilities including R&D, manufacturing, engineering, and product development competencies in the UK and Asia.

aThrough an East/West partnership, we have developed specific competencies in key areas in all elements of lighting DNA such as light source, thermal management, optics, driverless technologies, light engines, smart-connected products, luminaire manufacturing and testing labs. Aurora recently became a Nemko-approved laboratory, which means we can certify our own products to a globally recognised standard.

With a focus on future development and continuous reinvention, most recently, Aurora has pioneered an ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) transformational business opportunity. We are the first manufacturer to partner with Gooee, the world’s first ‘Full-Stack’ lighting ecosystem, to provide ‘Value Beyond Illumination’ and integrate smart technology into our products. This new era, termed Lighting 3.0, and new technology presents three key benefits – Environmental Intelligence Services, Human Engagement, Product and Asset Tracking.

From more than 200 nominations, the judges drew up the initial shortlists, tested products and visited projects the length and breadth of the UK to see them in action for themselves. What makes our awards unique is that we personally test every product on each shortlist and visit all the schemes assessed as possible winners,” said Lux publisher, Ray Molony. “It means these awards have rapidly become the must-have trophies of the lighting industry, and this year’s candidates were stronger than ever.”

Aurora also leads on training and education globally, using social media and digital communications to educate and inform. A UK intern programme is going global in 2016.

At LuxLive, we also unveiled our new catalogue, ‘Lighting 2016 Edition 1’ and demonstrated how, under one holistic brand (which now includes Microlights), our company plans to deliver ‘Value Beyond Illumination’ in 2016 and beyond, to accommodate five sectors – residential, hospitality, retail, commercial and industrial.”
